Don't know anything about middle TN spots, but state parks are off limits without specific permission from the ranger. Also TVA prohibits metal detecting on their property (including water AND dirt- see the state GIS to validate actual ownership of the dry), and of course national parks are off limits. I have been told that TN's national forests are also off limits, tho I have never see that in an official publication anywhere.

Pretty much leaves city property (parks, schools etc) and private where TVA considers themselves god.

Metro City Parks are off limits also.....No Metal Detecting. I contacted them and that's what I was told.
