Hello, I am looking at purchasing a new gun safe. I am interested in one with room for long guns on one side and shelving on the other side. So far the cannon and liberty safes are catching my eye. I would like to keep it under 2000 dollars. Anybody have any suggestions or good or bad experiences with any particular brands?

Remember if you an get it in the house they can get it out. Bolt it down as best as you can! Good luck.

fast forward to 230

A family member bought one over the holidays, from what he found out:
- Liberty is not what it used to be. They have lowered quality and upped on advertising.
- Champion is about the best value. American made. Lifetime warranty.
-Bigger is nicer, but look at going smaller in size and up in protection
-about 800 pounds is most reccomended as a start

Like I said , just what I was told. Hope it helps.

I bought a Yukon Gold from Sportman's Warehouse 3 years ago. I like it. It has room for about 8 longrifles and shelving. I only have 3 rifles left so I keep my detector and other expensive detecting accessories in there. Comes in pretty handy. Also, what ever you buy make sure it has a good, 'fire rating'.

I've owned or had daily experience with several fire rated gun safes including Smith & Wesson, Liberty, Sentry and Stack On. Finish aside I would rank them all pretty equal. Sentry and Stack On both are considered somewhat of a joke due to selling many of the simple lock boxes found in the box stores but the gun safes are in a different league. The only problem I've ever personally experienced was with a Sentry that had a dial lock. I followed the instructions from Sentry and went to a locksmith to open it. When I first spoke to the locksmith he thought it would be easy to get into but when on site he found it quite well built and not such an easy job. The end result was that the safe was drilled and had to be replaced which Sentry did at no charge including freight. The only expense they did not cover was getting the safe into the building.

As many will tell you, if a thief is determined they'll find a way to get your stuff. A gun safe should cover you as far as liability goes and will stop all but the most determined. As far as any tips go, buy the biggest you can fit/handle, bolt to the floors/wall and put it in a closet or corner (if confined they won't be able to get leverage on it). Also consider where you want it the house. The basement may be damp and fire burns up, which is a bigger hazard?

A friend has a Browning Medallion. Looks pretty nice.
Never asked to look inside and don't know cost.
Actually, it looks very nice!

check out gardall they are high security safes they have relockers in them take from a locksmith.

Hi. I have owned both Browning and Fort Knox safes. I like the Fort Knox which has space on the inside door for pistol storage.

My recommendation is that you get a gun safe that will meet your need now and in the future. I have had to move up a couple of sized and would have saved myself a lot of money if I had just bought the bigger safe first.

Next - fire proof or fire resistant.

One thing to keep in mind is the delivery charge is usually based on tailgate on in place and extra for stairs, etc.

Good Luck,
Lacal
