Advice on cleaning a token

I bought this Andrew Jackson token for $2 have some black crud on it. Any suggestions on getting it off? Should I try my tumbler?

I soak everything in olive oil for a month or so and then toothpick it...

I put in the tumbler overnight and gonna try olive on on the rest.
