And its a shame it isn't gold. But alas, maybe after Hanna graces us with her presence :). Managed to get home and hour and a half before low tide, and hit the ground running, despite my rough success of late. 1 ring for me in the last 10 days, and it was a mood ring :(. Well, I hit not one, but two nice rings, and both are silver. The second one I dug gave me a good start, was praying for it to be white gold, but, nope - silver. Oh well, I suppose ill check the stones anyhow.

The earring pictured has an obscure stamp on the post. I *think* it says 417A8A. or maybe 417ASA. I really cannot tell, and, the 417 might be something else. My mind is saying it has to be 417, since I want to force it to be gold :). If anyone has any idea what it could be, I would appreciate the help. I checked it under 10x magnification, and still couldn't make it out.

And the second picture is of a first for me. That sucker barely gave a signal, cause it was about 18 inches deep. Thankfully I hit that in the wet sand, and not in the surf. Saw fishing line after the first scoop, and thinking it was a hook and sinker I tried to pull it out. Yeah right! That bad boy was still over a foot below. Ain't ever gonna work again, but, a neat find anyway.

I hope y'all are hittin the big ones, and leaving just one good honkin trinket for lil old me :)
Anthony

yes, 417 is a gold stamp, but i cannot be sure it says that. also, it rang up on the same tone as can slaw - almost didnt dig it

.417 is the way they stamp 10 k in Europe. Would not be able to guess which country although.

Congrats on the goodie.

Even the Avon rings look good in the scoop.

Glad you hit some jewelry....Hope Hanna stirs up Myrtle Beach..

I found this on WikiAnswers (hope it helps):

417 is stamped in some 10k jewelry. Solid gold is 24k or 100% gold, 10k is 10/24 gold..or 41.7% gold. Hence the number, 417

So, congratulations on your gold find!!!

Nice finds, bet the fisherman was bummed about loosing the reel

Great hunt.    More gold to follow!

i need to take the earring to my jeweler, her eyes are better than mine. if she reads it and it says 417, ill be happy, til then, its just another trashy earring Ill toss in the collection :)
