I was surprised to see the amount of the surge it reached all the way up underneath the bridge over by the lex. I took lots of pics. Kevin and I hunted it the day after the hurricane hit and the water was over the beach out into the roads. It was rather hard to find a spot to drive to and park that wasn't under water. Kevin managed to get some clad, and a junk ring and a pretty little silver ring with purples stones. I got some clad, and a rather large silver band witht the star of David going around it. I went out Sunday morning with my dad and the water had receded back and you could see the beach once more. I was picking up pennies all in a line laying atop the sand. I also got this mystery coin if anyone can ID. Its smaller than a dime, and don't laugh at my drawing of it.

looks like it was a good hunt, few nice rings to add to the collection. Hope to see more of the same in the coming hunts. Hit it hard until the sand moves back!

everyone is waiting for padre island to open back up

On one of the news channels the morning after the hurricane in a shot of Galveston island there was someone with a detector already hitting the beach. This was one of the first shots after day break. Hope they found something good.

Good luck with the hunt, just be careful as lots of broken and sharp object are now concealed in the sand. Everything that washes up, also washes out and some of it gets buried.

Nice finds so far, keep up the good work.

I did a quick search on the internet but didn't find any coins like what you describe. Still, after you clean it up a bit maybe it will have more information that we can search by. Be careful out there!

thanks everyone I am going to take the coin to a coin dealer when I get the chance. So maybe they can help me out.
