I spent a few nights on the North shore of Lake Superior last August for the Perseid meteor shower. The main goal was to get a picture of a meteor over the lake. I couldn't help but spend most of the daytime walking the shore and looking for nice rocks.
Here are a couple quick pics of my haul. Mostly agates and a number of various interesting rocks.

A most unusual (for the area) green agate

Here is the pic that made the main goal of the trip a success. It would be hard to overstate the amount of effort it took to get.
