Aggravating fake 18k bracelet!

Got this in a junk lot I just got around to looking at and when I saw it and opened it and saw the mark my immediate reaction was cha-Ching!!! I could feel something wasn’t right but I didn’t want to believe it lol. I weighed it, did a happy dance, and then tested it. Complete garbage. I remember reading an article about this exact type of bracelet being sold by street folk in Rome. Anyway, can’t win em all.

I wonder what comeback you would have if you were foolish enough to buy that piece of junk on Etsy? It's not even a proper Italian hallmark.

I guess you would have to try to return it, but it could be a real pain and hassle. I assume it’s an honest mistake, but I’m amazed someone would list items in that price range without at least some knowledge of the field.

Easy, just dispute it with the credit card company. Mail fraud would also apply, or a small claims case in your jurisdiction if the seller lives far away from you. It would cost them more in travels expenses than to settle with you. So many different ways,

Unfortunately there is a lot of fake gold marked Italy 14k or 18k. Anything gold should always be tested. If buying online ask for it to be electronically gold tested and the results shown with the piece and don’t buy if they are unwilling or unable to test.

I always carry a magnet with me. I imagine you will find your piece is very attractive to a magnet. No such thing as magnetic gold!

This does not mean its gold or not gold... this test is ONLY a preliminary test.

Most fake jewelry is made of copper and brass and plated... it will not stick to a magnet.
