Howdy all,
Was able to find some time this weekend to hunt. Finally tracked down a local farmer and got permission to hunt his fields. :icon_thumleft: Started on an alfalfa field today...unfortunately the warm (hot!) weather last week has the alfalfa very deep already and gridding was impossible in most places. Two houses sat here in 1873+. Ended up with 6 wheats (oldest 1919). Where were the IH's? :icon_scratch: Also a train button, thimble, and a horse thing, possibly a bridal rosette? Can someone confirm/deny please?

Lovely day to be out! :icon_sunny:

HH,
Michiganne

That's a BIG field, you got a lot of swinging to do to beat the alfalfa.

I like the train, and the horse. I don't "know" with any certainty about the horse thing, but probably a button as well "sportsman button". A keeper regardless.

Alfalfa field? That was a "WHEAT FIELD!" :-)

That is a big field! What percent would you say you were able to do and did you find alot of junk also. I live very close to a farmer who has the same type of field, although not nearly as large, and have been trying to contact him for weeks now. Never seems to be around.

mjc- I'm only hitting the areas where the homes sat, the "iron patch." But yesterday the alfalfa was already too deep in most places to swing well. :sadsmiley: Yes, took me a while to hook up with this farmer as well.

That horse thingy is very cool, is the thimble silver?. The wheats are always fun to dig up, a home run in my book.

Well ya got permission to hunt a great spot it looks like, gotta be some more keepers there for sure. And they will still be there next year and maybe you can get an earlier start. Glad you were able to get out and secure permission!.....keep at it Anne....always looking forward to your posts! HH

Great hunt Anne! The train button and thimble are very cool!!, I like that horse thing too - very interesting. Wheats are always fun too! Good luck with some Indians and Silvers on your return hunt!!

Nice going Anne. Cool finds!

Great hunt Anne! Worth going back to that spot a couple times. I just know there are a few indians hiding out. D
