Nice! Probably was indeed good for a smile. The proprietor had an unfortunate name and initials, though. But maybe not back in the day.

It's funny how slang changes. Back in the day a smile was another term for a short beer or small beer. He might have changed his name nowadays.

Great save !
Your token is rated R10 (only a couple known) in " Colorado Merchants' Tokens " by Wright & Nott (supplement) . A. F. Udick is listed as the proprietor of a saloon in Victor, Colorado in the 1908 Colorado Business Directory.

Thanks for the information Mackadon, there are a few more attributed to that proprietor as well. I love the local stuff!!

Always neat to see the Colorado history you uncover.
It's crazy how much was going on up here!! Lots of business, and lots of tokens lost. That's over 25 different ones from my little sleepy town that I've found over the years!!

Went out for a quick hunt the day before Thanksgiving. I found this same token around 15 to 20 years ago and sold it. It was good to find another, always regretted it. I was happier than an old Christmas ornament!!! It's in the token catalog, Victor,Co. Found a couple wheats, 1919 and 1934 D. Happy Holidays and Happy Digging!!
Nice!!! Congrats!!!
