Was this originally "Prospect Reservoir Park ?" if so It's the perfect park
to search. Especially where there are or Were Old Trees.

So it's confusing in Altoona. The Prospect park is what you have shown. the Prospect reservoir park is up the hill a little bit and has a very large water tower and swimming pool next to it. It would be impossible to dig there and likely under where the new water tower stands. I dug in prospect before and it was a former garbage dump. so the land mostly rust and debris, lots of crushed rocks were used to cover it.
