I have this regular place i go to gamble, and there is an ATM located inside. I happened to have to go to the restroom and i walked past and seen a $20 bill sitting right in the tray, i thought no way, so i grabbed it up quick and scored a nice bonus. ALWAYs check the atm. once they walk away then its anyones.

yep finders keepers ...HH did you win?

And what are your plans for returning it to the owner? ;)

yeah I find cash in the atm at the bar I go to all the time. Drunks are notorious for losing money, and New Orleans is full of drunks. I actually just picked up 60 bucks on the sidewalk during French Quarter Fest Saturday.

And what are your plans for returning it to the owner? ;)

Actually, it probably belongs to the last transaction. The bank would know.

I would have attempted it, but i thought of how it would go down, i would hand it to the worker lady, she would announce it and probably a dozen people who "lost $20" in one way or another will come up and say its theres, and then the money goes to the company. id rather it be in my pocket.

A quick $20, this reminds me of once withdrawing $500, and while I wrote the transaction
in my checkbook, the door closed and didn't return my card. :BangHead:
It was an old style machine where a door opens and your cash is waiting in a tray, I figured the next person who used it would get an extra $500, turns out, some mechanism clears the tray when the door shuts & holds it..... Not being my banks ATM, it took 3 weeks to get confirmation that it would be refunded.
But I did get it back :hello2: Oh Happy Day!!

I had the same thing happen once: $20 left in the ATM. I walked inside and tried to return it to the bank, but they said it was unlikely it would be returned to a customer, so just keep it rather than donating it to the bank. OK, so I left with the $20. A week later, I was telling this story to a teller at a different bank, and this lady behind me starts literally screaming at me, "that was MY money! Give it back!!! You stole it!!!!" I was on my toes that day and asked her which ATM machine it was, and of course she said it was the bank we were standing in presently. It was a different bank, so she was clearly lying and had to shut up. Some people will try anything. So I would just keep it if I were you.

some casinos will ban you for life for doing that. They feel it is there money

If you find paper currency, and there is a reasonable chance that you can identify the owner,(in this case easily obtainable from the last transaction prior to yours) you have to make a reasonable attempt to give it back. If you don't, that is known as "theft"
I'm not trying to be a jerk, just telling you the law from experience.
It's not "finders keepers" if you can figure out whose it is.

any lost money in a casino --in the casinos veiw -- is "their" money --peroid--- be it "credits" left behind on a machine by a drunk patron -- any money left on the atm trays or loose "cash' on the floor -- so if you turn it in either the "employee" will snitch it and not turn it in to the casino --or if they do the casino will "claim it" as theirs -- either way it will not go back to the person who lost it sadly -- of that you can count on . --so you might as well keep it for yourself -- unless you actually "see' the last person who used the machine walking away --then honestly says to tell them --uh mr / miss you left something here . --but if no one is in sight -- and its just waiting there for the first soul that picks it up -- oh well its " my" lucky day- too bad so sad , they should have been more careful.

The casino I go to will not pick up money off the floor if they don't have to. I was at a machine and two employees were standing next to me and one asked me to pick up the quarter that was on the floor cause if they did, it would create more paper work than it was worth.

I found $20 last week in a ATM, being the nice guy I am I bought a coffee and sat there for 20 minutes seeing if someone would realize their loss and come back for it, well nobody came back so in my pocket it went

If only i could be banned for life from that place... hahahaha :dontknow:

only if you win steady on a long term basis and or very large several times ( thus defying random house "odds" fix ) wil you get a "lifetime' ban generally or if they think your a card counter or some other form of "cheat' in their opinion --thats why they want you to use their electronic "comp' cards so they can sorts the "wiinners' from the losers -by using the comp cards you actually assist them in electronicallly tracking your play win / loss wize. - losers are 'comped" and are of course always welcome -- steady winners not so much --big steady winners are told -- you're play is too good , sir , and we would rather not have your bussiness * so please leave and don't come back.* and by the way any "comp points" credited on your card can be "totally" voided at anytime by a casino at their discretion. --so hit the bricks -- MR LUCKY

thats why i stay under the irs won money reporting levels so as to not have to give my name / ID to them and why i do not 'join" their electronic "play tracking" comp card programs ( you have to give over your name / ID and if your barred they use the info on the card to get a "get out and stay out" no tresspassing issued on you and you go into the "database" by name which casinos share to track their version of "undesiribles"-- its the sharp players that casinos do not want playing in their places .-- casinos hate card counters with a passion )-- to me its not cheating , by knowing when it is a good time to play mathmatically speaking * --when the deck "odds" favors you mathmatically speaking meaning that you * have more face and 10 value cards left in the deck % wize than 2 thru 6 cards --thus making it more % likely that you will get a 20 hand (stand) than a weak 12 thru 16 hand ( thus normally having to hit again , with a chance of busting)-- a 20 hand normally will win or at the very least tie the dealer (push)

I put 2 bucks in a coke machine today for a $1.25 Coke. The machine gave me the coke and $2.25 back in quarters.

my kinda coke machine --

the machine clearly triple cycled the .75 cents it was supposed to refund you ($2.25) plus you got the $1.25 coke for "free" --so for the 2 bucks you put in -- basically you got a a "free" coke , your $2 back ( in quarters ) plus a extra quarter bonus

I still love Coinstar machines...they reject silver and some people never check the return bin.
