OK, so I found this granite stone in south central Colorado, Fremont County. I am pretty sure its granite and although granite is everywhere throughout most of the state; sandstone rules the roost here.
I believe I came across an ancient hand ax and/or large hide scraper. I would love to throw out a guess and say its paleo-native. But honestly I am dependent upon the internet for my info on that one. HaHa.

Well to get the meat and potatoes of my post.

i have attached a few pics but as I mentioned previously; I do believe it is polished granite. It shape fits that of an ax-head and it definitely has had the edges tooled and is shaped to be attached to some sort of handle. Also upon close inspection one can see polishing and tooling marks covering the whole piece.

Any info on this item would be much appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

Sure looks like a fashioned hand tool to me! Not familiar with the area artifacts but possibly an ax head. Nice find!

The first pic says it's a tool to me. Mother nature can't make an edge like that. Some sort of unique tool. Gary

Was there any Indian Activity in your area? Or early settlers?
