Amana Colonies wooden box

Krauss Furniture in South Amana, Iowa was a high quality, old world furniture maker’s shop. I found this trinket box today for fifty cents (gave $1). It’ll be great for some of my smaller treasure finds. I’d guess it was $25 or more new. Nothing was cheap from that maker.

It’s a neat place to visit, especially for Oktoberfest. Good, family-style restaurants.

My mother always had to stop by the Amana Colonies on our many trips back and forth to grandpa's house in Burlington from Ankeny where I lived from 1965 to 1976. This plaque was something my wife had the artist do. The artist was from Wisconsin as the sticker on the back says. I'll bet it's been hanging up by the door over 25 years now.
