Amarillo AFB, Amarillo Texas-circa 1967

I was just sittin here reflecting on my military days in the Air force, thought of when I went through boot camp at Amirillo Texas. I heard the base was closed down in the very early 1970;s. If a developer hasn't bulldozed it,and Uncle sam still owns it,this would be a metal dectors time capsule. Anybody liveing up in this local,should do some reasearch and check it out.This was a huge base in its heyday,houseing,churches,post exchanges,warehouse"s,etc. When i went through their,it was old then ,with wooden buildings,I think it dated to WW2.

Bell Helicopter took it over as a repair/refurbishment of the damaged 'copters from Nam (late 60's).
