Hello all needless to say I'm super excited
Today I texted scrappy told him I dig a cartwheel
Penny. I get home start cleaning it and realize
It's not a copper it's silver. Not just silver but
Colonial silver Spanish silver
1757 Ferdinand VI 8 reale
Thanks for looking hh gl
Shout out to barrel and scrappy making me learn
The deus. My go to machine !

After researching an old tavern I read about and a road between to small colonial
Towns I realized a lot of the land was and has been still woods I was shot from s long hunt with the *******s of bramble on Friday so I was staying close to home I decided to hit that spot it's flat ground
And easy access. I get tuned up and started hitting targets right away. A few old wazzits a few Indians
After about an hour I'm walking slowly out toward car
I am using the deus at 7.8 frequency and swinging slow. I hear the chirp it's crystle clear
I was not expecting this. At 10 inches out poop's the brown disk
Like I said I'm thinking cartwheel penny Needless to say I'm sure glad I was wrong. Thanks again
Hh gl.

So let me get this right. You go out and dig a Globes and Pillars 8-reale and Bart goes and digs a 17th century sword hand guard on the day I'm stuck at home!?!? Congrats buddy. Wow, I thought for sure yours was a counterfeit after that first pic, but man I was wrong.

That's a heart stopper. The Basstards of Bramble prevail. Charlie, that's a banner find. Congrats, you've earned it buddy.

Steve

Ps. I'm coming to your house to hold that tomorrow.

All I can say is thank you so much for all those dirty nasty ugly pics!!!! I love seeing things as they come from the ground then seeing them as they clean up. I never would have guessed a big silver coin was under all of that either. Allow me to give the first BANNER nod. Truly incredible man. And once again thanks for the great pics. It just adds legitimacy to these posts and as I said I love seeing the dirty pics better than the cleaned ones. I also like to see the before and afters and hear what people used for cleaning methods. It helps us all learn and decide what we feel is best.... Ya know for when I dig my big old 8 reales lol. Congrats bud

WHAT!!! Insane man. Ha. I thought you found two coins... Then I actually read the post. I can't believe it came out so crusty and cleaned up so nice. What a sick 8 Reales.

Thanks , I used a dry brush only until I saw it was silver
Then Lemon juice and soft brush
That's it it will clean more but I had to put it down
I'll finish it tomorrow. HHS gl all

Wow, an amazing find, on my bucket list also, banner vote is in.

Steve thanks I had no freaking idea what it was
Crusted in brown crud I really thought it was
A cartwheel penny !!
But once I could start reading it I was like
Wait it's not a penny. Holy $&@$
Could this be a reale ?

Charlie, what an amazing find buddy, and it looks like an exceptional specimen! You're on 3 day streak buddy! Keep at it the Deus will unearth more! My banner vote is in!

That is a stellar coin ! Just so you all know there are many proven methods under the cleaning and preservation section that are tried and proven with before and afters from some great hunters. I know Buckleboy is quite versed in a lot of his cleaning techniques . Again great dig!

What a heart stopping find!!! Congrats on a nice BIG OLD piece of silver!!! :occasion14:
