I met up with NoNickels (Marty) today for a hunt.... first we started off at an old lot where a 1800's home stood. It was fairly trashy like all other tear downs, so we just slowly went around digging all decent signals. First coin for me was the 1897 indian, right beside that I dug the bell, I almost gave up on it, as it was about a foot deep. I also got the lead soldier there as well as the silver rosie. Marty got him a beautiful LC, and some wheats.

We headed to another empty farm house lot after knocking and getting permission, Marty nabbed him a barber dime, and I got an AMAZING semi key date indian.....1878.....this is one of the nicest indians I have dug and a GOOD date as well. :hello2: :laughing7:

Anyone care to grade this one for me? :icon_scratch:

Then one last stop he hit the empty lot where I dug the 2 center coin earlier this week, I went across the small yard in a different direction, got 2 wheats, the black lady costume jewelry (has a pin on the back) and the sash buckle.

Overall a super day for both of us! That takes me to 11 indians for the season!

here is the video from today :tongue3:

I imagine the penny should come in at or near EF. I don't recall seeing the back. You can read clearly the 'LIBERTY' which puts it right up there. You've had some nice finds the last few days. Seems like you've hit the spot...no more sidewalks, for now!
I'm sorry, forgot the reverse pic, here it is.........
Geez, that coin could be an EF-AU. Looks like the 'L' on the ribbon is distinct, as well. You know how it goes once it gets into this kind of range, concerns about environmental damage, etc. But yours is a nice coin, dropped almost right out of the mint bag. I would say it's a keeper, not for the market.

I haven't sold I single coin since I started this hobby and sure not gonna start with this one..lol
I'm trying to complete a set of dug indians and this will be a nice addition. I am about 75-80% complete right now for a complete dug set.

great finds!! nice, very nice Indian!

umm..... actually he was correct ALL indians AFTER the 1864 have the "L" on the ribbon, grab any date that is in great shape and see for yourself!

Great finds Goes4ever! Save a few for me I am just getting used to the TTF!! Were you using stock coin mode with your few changes? :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:

I like your finds and those IH's are spectacular...they are my favorite coins to find. Congrats.

I'm trying to complete a set of Dug Indian Head Pennies too!

Right now, I figure I will need to live to be 307 years old in order to complete my collection. :laughing7:

Just joshin'...great digs! I love Indian Heads! You scored some beautiful relics too. Bravo.

I think the important 1864 Indian is the one without the 'L'. Either way, that coin of yours is a pretty little find. Good luck on completing your collection. At the rate people find 1877s here that one should be the least worrisome coin to find for you!
Heavy--no prob ...I'm wrong more often than I'm right and rely on you all to correct me. Thanks!
