where was it found?
In the ground, Northern CT.
At the same site I found early buttons and an early shoe buckle, if that helps.

Hmm, the design matches, but what about the rest of the guard? I can verify no break-marks on this item - also, the link you provided only shows one side of the guard.

You were right... I looked up other pics, both sides match. I think someone may have clipped it and smoothed out the edges, for some reason.

There is no direct size reference in the original post, but based on the fingers/hand, this piece seems small for a full sized sword guard.


Holy crap you may be right...
Could this be a guard for a smaller type blade??
