American Civil War Silver Commemoratives

I completed a small collection of civil war issues. They are:
Grant, 1922, 67,000
Stone Mtn, 1925, 1.25 million
Antietam, 1937, 18,000
Gettysburg, 1936, 26,000
I’ve always like studying the civil war, and now with the internet there is more information than ever. When I was a kid there were two local collectors of civil war artifacts. I got to see both those collection numerous times. I don’t own any artifacts, so I thought these coins would be a good addition to my collection.

Nice! Some of my favorite commemoratives, I've always been interested in the Civil War. Grant was such an interesting man, failure in the army, failed at farming, then convincing his father to take him into his harness shop to support his family, 7 years later elected president of the United States! Then post presidency didn't fare too well either.

I'm a huge Grant fan, probably the most amazing man the war produced. He was the one who saw the path to winning the war, he took it and never looked back. I also feel his presidency was better than usually given credit for, his big failing was in trusting the wrong people. It was all his prewar endeavors that ended in failure, the man was anything but.

His experience as quartermaster of the Mexican War enabled him to create the war machine that won the Civil War. I haven’t read his autobiography but should.

Nice looking coins for your collection. I have the Stone Mountain in my collection, but only because I like the coin, I don't collect Civil War commemoratives like you.
