hello all,

we visited Amethyst mine panorama in Thunder Bay and it was advertised correctly. Gorgeous amethyst all over the dig site! I had to sit a catch my breath many times because it was overwhelming at all of the stones. I've been cleaning out my bucket and found about 5 specimens with what looks like gold flakes in them. They are not magnetic (pyrite). I will post more pictures soon for my bigger specimens, waiting for a sunny day.

one picture is a sample of the light and dark varities collect. we have about 150 pieces.

the other is a display of nice colored chips and points with a rose quartz (purchased) in the middle

worth the visit, drive, and cost.

enjoy

I would love to go there. How much was it to dig?

Yep I've heard many good things about thunder bay.. Was hoping to take a trip up there one day.. Thou i have a question for you.. I know that there is a north American Amythist mine there.. but the first images shows a much darker Amy with chevrons (white lines) running through it.. These veritys of stoens are more common in Brazil or South Afrca. Was it possiabel that you: Actually did some digging for these amy's or was there preseeded buckets available for sale?.. Not douting your finds.. but most are the pale colors Amys. (North American Verity)

Wizard, those look very much like the amethyst from Creede Colorado. Google Creede Amethyst.
There is a big range in color between the different veins in the Creede area. Ranges from pinkish purple to blue. I always felt that they were more colorful than the ones I see from Mexico or Brazil.
Here is a link to a picture from the mine I worked in for a while.

Looks like a nice haul, Rumble.
