It's worth a big high 5! I live at least 500 miles from anything close to a civil war battlefield, and I'm a little bit jealous of you Southerners.

Do not know about value, but that is a great find. Beats most civil war things that i have found.

Gorgeous! I think they are several hundred. They are around, and I guarantee I've never dug one!

I think they go for around 7-8 hundred dollars, but the way the market fluctuates on stuff I'm not sure right at the moment what they are. I would guess at least 5 hundred minimum. By the way...super find! One that's been on my wish-list for a long long time now. The only saddle shield I dug was a stinkin' Yankee.

I found one similar to yours back in the late '80s. A couple of days after I found it, I showed it to a local CW relic dealer and he offered to buy it from me for 75 bucks if I recall. I still have it. Nice find, congrats
