I hunted a hill top park that’s been notable for decades as a ‘parking’ spot for the locals . My father-in-law used to drive his Model A to the top using the now abandoned part of the roadway. It was once a loop but now it is one way up and one way back. That pavement is still there but it is now part of the walking trail system. The foot of the ‘mountain’ is surrounded by an older residential neighborhood.
On the old paved road itself I was only able to find modern pocket change and keys. I then hunted the foot trails and wooded hillsides. My most notable finds were a 1919 Wheat Cent and then what turned out to be a Ten Cash, Pei Yang, Chinese Dragon Coin from the early 1900s. At first my heart was pounding because I thought I had scored myself a Large Cent!
Here is more info on it: Ten Cash, Pei Yang, Chinese Dragon Coin « Chinese Dragon Coins « Coins Section « SL Collectors Coin Blog.
Thanks for looking!
