I found this piece of 'holed' brass yesterday on a c1820 homestead site with British Military settlement history. This property was originally a land grant given to a Major who served in the British Military during the War of 1812. It is a thin piece of brass with three anchors in an oval. This piece measures approx. 1" at the top, 2" at the base and is 4" long. It has ridges pressed into it and appears to have an uneven break at it's base.
Any thoughts as far as the marks, date and what it might have been would be appreciated. I have 'professionally' reattached the two sections with Scotch Tape to keep them together.

Thanks very much,
Dave
