Andre’s pencils silver problem

Am i cleaning incorrectly with too strong of force to create the scratch damaging? This was a test run trying out these pencils and how they worked and cleaned, first time using them fyi. Am I correct in assuming you should never clean anything valuable with these pencils as they still scratch? It did reveal alot more detail, but clearly the scratches are also there.

Yes they are not intended for silver. I only use them for coppers.

Yeah, and they can be used on some brass objects, and have used them on iron blade
of a dug, late 1800's carving knife - to get the maker's mark - very delicate work,
as to not remove any metal detail.
Yeah, the pencils have their use, I'm learning....
