Can anyone ID this bone?...found it on the beach in Florida 3 years ago and it's been sitting on a shelf just bugging me-cause I can't figure out what it is. LOL...HELP!!!! Also posted on Fossils Forum-not sure which was more appropriate. Thanks!!! SAM_0102.webpSAM_0103.webpSAM_0113.webpSAM_0114.webp

Hard to tell what it is, it appears to be quite water worn?

Hi Digger! You're probably right. I did find it on the beach in a shell bed so I assume (hopefully correctly) that it came out of the water with the shells. It definitely is smooth to the touch. Thanks! :)

That's cool. Being such a small sample it could be hard to associate with the animal it came from. It looks to be very prehistoric to me. Is it still very soft & porous or has much of cell structure been replaced with mineral saturation or petrified? Like is it as solid & hard as a rock now?
