Today my dad and I got up early and went out to do some detecting. We first stopped at a house built in 1798 and hit the field next to it. I found a beautiful bell which I'll now call the "Jesus Bell"! Never seen one like it before! After that the finds only consisted of some horse shoes. We then moved on to another property that the owner told us was built in the 1820's but due to the finds I'm pretty sure there was a 1780's era house on the site before and they built the 1820's house on top of it. I found a Colonial Shoe Buckle Frame, and last but not least my first ever Connecticut Copper! It was only 4 inches deep! Also found some other wheats. I'll be going back!

Nice Ct Copper.

Nice Ct Copper.

LOL is that what he thought was the saddle shield or cufflink? I couldn't figure out the post saw the CT copper and knew someone would speak up. Those relics are in line with an 1820 house BTW.

I'll have to disagree with you on that one I'm pretty confident that there was a late 1700's house on the property before the 1820's house

awesome finds!, that home looks like a killer spot!, I believe your big piece is a shoe buckle frame

Congrats on the CT copper, but the hunt goes to the bell in my books.

I agree these fit perfectly with "1820". Great finds! Love the Jesus Bell, very unusual relic!!!

I find the bell interesting.

I'm assuming this is a Pa. site.

I'm assuming also, that the crucifix on the bell suggests a Catholic origin. (perhaps an early parochial school bell)

Most early practitioners of Catholicism were in Maryland at the time.

It would be interesting to put a name with the site

Congrats on that big old copper, and the rest of your finds.

LIKE THE BELL .THAT IS A DIFFRENT STYLE AND THE CONN. COIN IS SWEET FIND. I HAVE A VERMONT THAT YOU CAN SEE EXCEPT THE DATE AND HAVE OFFTEN WONDERED WHAT ITS WORTH EVEN THOUGH I DONT SELL ANYTHING I FIND . YOU MUST BE AT A DARN GOOD SPOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT ELSE YOU FIND.

Congratulations on the old copper recovery!

The bell is a very cool find, love the shoe buckle frame too! :occasion14:

Finding the Connecticut Copper and being able to detect a beautiful house site like that is amazing!

Dave

Great finds! That bell rocks

Sweet states copper and the bell is Awesome!!

Excellent hunt,, amazing how a few period finds can open the door for discussion.
I hunted a site that had a house built on it in 1840, but of course the finds predated it.
Then we hunted a site that came with a 1792 Tax assessment bill, and found coins that
had dates from the 1800's on.
Whenever it was built,,, it certainly has promise.
I know I would jump at the opportunity to hunt it.
Good luck on your future hunts.

Sweet copper!!

I love the bell. If you would consider selling it, pm me. It will be put back in service
