Snuck in a short water hunt after the storms this evening. Found lots more lead incuding tons of little rounballs including the two still molded together. Found an early leather ornament as well as a really nice single loop 17th century buckle that you dont see often. It was found above the high tide line and likely recently eroded from the bank being that it has a nice green patina. And yes, Spanish cob #4 from here. A Mexico City half real weighing about 1.4 grams. :headbang:

Nice finds , do you have any guesses as to what occupied the site that long ago or any back history? Awesome relics to be coming out of the ground after hundreds of years of being lost.

All I know is that there is at least a few mid 18th century homes within a mile of this site but across the river from it there was probably even more activity circa 1700 which is closer to the time range of the finds. River crossing or trading post are the most likely scenarios. Ive hunted a lot of colonial sites with little Spanish silver to show for it until now but all the other spots were likely just homesites. The rivers were the highways of their time and this one was probably pretty busy well into the 17th century

Crazy how many your getting from that section of coastline, dream site for sure. Congrats again!

Thanks. Crazy that I now have 7 cobs but only 5 milled Spanish silvers including one cut Pistareen which seem to be so prevalent just a little bit south of me. I think this site is just a little too old for Pistareens. Good problem to have I guess

NICE... Been looking forward to your next post.
I love the buckle and I just knew you were going to find another cob.
