Hi Guys,
Only got a couple of hours out in the field today what with all the thunder, lightening and those heavy rain showers - But was it worth it? ;D You bet!
Only found 1 item....
Another Bronze Age Flat Axe - Beautiful condition - much bigger than the first one I found earlier this year - 2 fields away from that 1st one.
It weighs 369 grams - 14.5 cm long, 1cm thick, 7.5cm at widest point down to 2.5cm.
Well happy with it.
Here are the pics:

Here it is with the first (smaller) one for comparison.

Thanks for all the congratulations so far - yep, been smiling all morning - despite the rain falling outside.
Perfect soil conditions - not so, I think this might be just one that's luckily missed all the abuse over the years - coming off the field yesterday I showed it to the farm labourer - an oldish gentleman that had been working there for many years - Sad thing is, other Axe Heads like this could have been thrown away in the 'Stone Picking' process after ploughing as "...large stones and big chunks of metal like that..." cause damage to the farm machinery! Couldn't believe it!!! :'(
I better get back and do every square inch before they do any more stone-picking!

Uh, I thought everything in England was old.

other than a tiny amount of Gold jewelry this is the oldest metal work you can find in the UK

Wow :o That's one beautiful artifact :icon_thumright:
Congratulations on your find David!
