Went to the 1820’s property for a hour and did pretty good. I got a gold guilt, looks like another floral and can’t read what is says on the back, a clay marble, glass marble, old car and a black glass bottle neck. Looks like I’ll be starting bottle digging in 2019. Any opinion on the button feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for looking. Very nice Truth.:icon_thumright:

Nice! Looks like you are in the right area. Those old cars are neat. Any luck on finding the privy? I'm not too familiar with old buttons.

It's a Civil War era flower (civilian) button. They come in a quadzillion styles. Don't put chemicals on it.

Very nice button find! :occasion14:

The original house is in the back then they connected the shotgun house to it. The bathroom in the shotgun house is where the original privy was and it has a cement slab over it. IMG_1562.webp

It could be considered a Civil War era flower button, but I would date it a little earlier, 1840s. I have found a number of very similar ones with the Benedict & Burnham backmark which dates from 1834-1843.

Hey Steve thanks for responding! Do you think it’s a Benedict & Burnham backmark? I can make it out and my big magnify desktop lamp’s light burned out. It’s driving me nuts I just ordered another one. I’m dying to know. Lol

The circle at the bottom of the flowers has small x’s in it. xxxxx

Looks like "someone" and Eaves....Superfine. I'll look in my button backmark book when I get home and see if I can find out who someone is.
