I may have posted this years ago but never got an answer. I've dug several of these pieces and the one with the nice patina and serpentine design is quite interesting, but don't have a clue what they came off of.

It's probably a copper alloy like many 18th century metallic items.

Pretty beefy stuff!
Heavy brass like that was/is used quite frequently in the marine industry; could have been banding or trim of a luxury yacht or similar application.
