Plan was to try a new field in the morning & move to a better place after Lunch (unless the field was good). Well the field is another one to add to the cross off list but after lunch the finds started to show. This is the one we have been gridding next to a Roman Quarry.
5.5 hours:

3 Scrappies
17-18th C Pot Hanger/Handle
2 Medieval Thimbles
Medieval Key (broken)
14th C Buckle
Large Tudor Book Clasp
Circa 16th C Sword Belt Hanger
6th C Saxon Small-Long Brooch:icon_thumright:
Galley Halfpenny - Hammered Italian Soldino
Hard to see be a scarce 17th C Lead Weight - Commonwealth period! (there is a cross in shield on the top)

As we know its all relative & until our real season gets underway (after harvest), its going to be like this.

Any Saxon artefact is a bit special  I would be camping were that come from.

A good day in the field! Congrats on the Saxon brooch!

Picture of 3 scrappies added.

Nice finds!
If you had known that you could have eaten lunch before you hit the field and started finding goodies right away!
Ah the things we learn! :laughing7:

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us .
