We went back to the new site we hunted two weeks ago and had a nice morning. We took a friend and got to see him find his first LC. I was happy for him. I found a few relics including part to a coffee/spice grinder and several nice buttons. I found a Eagle general service cuff button and a nice decorative flat button. I also found what I think is a LC that was raped with a piece of iron but I'm not sure. I'm trying to get some details on it know. Also have a what is it that I will post there. Found part of what I think is a pretty old shoe buckle and some odds and ends. Thanks for looking. IMG_20170212_132230912.jpgIMG_20170212_132245391.jpgIMG_20170212_131023105.jpg

Thanks. Yea it's unusual for us to be able to hunt this time of year, but we are taking advantage of it while we can. Every weekend we say this could be the last.

A nice, varied hunt. I love those kind of walks!

Great relic hunt, congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice cuff button and variety of relics. :icon_thumright: Any idea on the age of the shoe buckle yet?

Thanks. I'm not sure of age. Maybe someone will school me.

Update: The object I posted yesterday that I thought was a LC wrapped with a piece of metal is. When I found it I suspected it was a coin but could see no details. It was wrapped tight with a rusted piece of metal 1/2" wide by 1/8 thick. It was flaking away so I removed most of it with my finger. First picture shows it after that but before cleaning. Still couldn't find any details to confirm its a coin, so I boiled some peroxide and left it overnight. This morning I still couldn't see anything so I decided to cook it. I don't usually do this to a coin but I just had to know if that's what it is. Took an old phone charger, salt water and made a electrolysis rig. After cooking that puppy you can clearly see what it is. Best I can tell is it's an 1810. The rust was tough to get off but that's where most of the details where.
