I went with Megalodon twice within the last week breaking in (and trying to break) the new boat. We tooled around for miles up and down Calvert Cliffs looking for Miocene fossils. Lots of the places are inaccessible from land, so a boat is the only way to go.

We hit several spots and at the end of the day I had over 30 teeth day 1 and 50 day 2. Here's some pics. I managed to get one of each of the types of teeth found here, including a rare Angel shark tooth! They are TINY!

IMG_0963.webp Ray teeth and a porpoise tooth. I also found a fossil crab claw, some bone fragments, a shark or other fish vertebrae, part of a whale vertebrae, several nice pecten and clam shells, and some sea glass.

I had a blast!

I like the way you put the upper and lower teeth in the same frame. The dimorphism often confuses people into thinking the teeth are from different species when in reality, they were from different jaws. Typically, the lower jaw's teeth grasped prey while the upper teeth slashed and cut. That's why the upper Makos are so much prettier (IMO) than the lowers.

I went out on the Potomac in the same Calvert Formation with a group and permission from the landowners, who only grant it a couple times a year. We boated up and down the BIG cliffs and they let us off different places. I didn't get that MANY teeth, but sure had fun. I'll post later when the ow! ow! owies! get better.

Nice teeth Smokey!

Nice finds , Calvert cliffs is a lot of fun we go every summer and stay in the cabins at Matatoaka it’s been a yearly tradition for about 15 years now. My buddy that took us there the first time had dozens of megladon teeth some over 6” many of those were found on government property down there but since 9/11 they don’t let anybody on the beach anymore.

Its much worse today around Cove Point. For decades, the LNG terminal and pipeline were dormant and people walked the beaches in that area. Now that Dominion has bought the gov't and built its fracked gas refinery and liquefaction facility at Cove Point, they use the pipeline and terminal just N of Cove Pt to ship the LNG to India and Japan, leaving the unregulated pollution behind here, with no local benefits. Dominion pays 25% of the local sheriff salaries and they get ownership there too - with double-sided badges. Those deputies/"special security" folks harass fossil hunters on public beaches, citing "Homeland Security". They even have a patrol boat with two fully auto weapons, one a .50 cal, because we fossil hunters are viewed as nearly as much a threat as the grandmothers protesting the plant or those of us with bumper stickers opposing it on our trucks.
