Another Nice Hunt After Work

Well the temps here are incredible for mid July. The high yesterday was 78, so what to do other than detect. I went back to one of my spots I've been having some good luck with and dug a little bit of everything. I manged 3 Mercs, A silver War Nickel, 1927 Buffalo nickel, 1880 Indian and a pile of crusty wheaties. I dug a nice little silver ring but it's broken and another plated ring with the Zodiac sign of Aquarius. I thought I had dug a Large Cent but turned out to be a neat Washington DC souvenir coin with the US Capitol on one side and the Washington Monument on the other. I had my little girl with me and it started to get dark and she kept telling me to finish out a couple more rows until I got down to a grown up fence row. It had got completely dark and she was holding the flashlight as I dug when we got a pretty good signal under some of the brush and out popped a Merc. She was so excited to hunt in the dark with the light & we had a big fun time trying to sniff out the treasures. HH David

Nice finds, and it sounds like a fun hunt with the little one. How old is your daughter? When I take my 5 1/2 yr old daughter detecting, she gets distracted pretty quickly lol.

Nice finds, and it sounds like a fun hunt with the little one. How old is your daughter? When I take my 5 1/2 yr old daughter detecting, she gets distracted pretty quickly lol.

My girl is 10 and she likes to go with me. When she gets bored she will tumble and flip around the lawn or read a book. She catches bugs or plays with the home owner's dog or cat. She is an outdoors kinda of girl so she can be entertained with a lot of things. She also detects, she found a Shield Nickel before I found my first. I bet when your girl gets a little older she will enjoy it more.

Thanks treblehunter! I'm very lucky to have a wife and two kids that enjoy history and the things I dig up. I know they grow up fast and I won't get these times back so I have to take advantage of it now.
