I wasn't able to get the box of halves I ordered for this week (vault teller told me I'll have to wait till next week) so I decided to get some nickels and cents today to search this weekend. I got a cent box and $60 in nickel rolls this morning before work and after work I decided to stop at another bank to get a nickel box as well. I've never had any luck with loose or cwr halves at this bank but I asked for them anyway like I always do. Well after I got my nickel box the teller said he found $9 in loose halves somewhere so I happily bought them. He put them in a bank envelope and it wasn't until a few minutes later as I was driving down the road that I decided to look in the envelope. When I did I was surprised to see what looked like a silver edge. So I opened the envelope to take a closer look and found not just 1 but 2 silver halves - both '64 Kennedy's. I was (and still am) a happy hunter.
Also earlier this morning I stopped at McD's for something to eat and in my $.12 change I saw the reverse of a wheat cent. When I turned the coin over to look at the date I was even more surprised to see it was (and still is) dated 1918 - wow that was a REAL surprise. I know it is a rather common date and doesn't have much value (esp in low grade cond.) but it is older than my oldest CRHing cent which is a 1919 I just found last weekend. And just earlier this year I got a nice full date '36D or '37D buffalo nickel in my change from a Subway restaurant.
So I had another great day of finds with low volume searches (and small change). Now I'll have to see what kind of luck I have with all the nic and cent rolls I bought.
