looking at the one bearcreek just posted which is absolutely gorgeous by the way got me to wondering if this one is a dalton i wish it wasnt so beat up but it is unusual to me i dont think i have found another one quite like it
Hey that does look a lot like the one I found! Your pics really show the concave area I was talking about. What is the material type of yours? I'm eager to find out what we have
Looks a wee bit on the thick side, but it may just be my eyes, or it may have been larger originally before numerous resharpenings. It does appear to have basal and lateral thinning which would make me lean Dalton, iffin' the base is also ground.
it is kinda thick i dont really know about basal grinding but i doubt it the point bear creek showed is much finer work just the general outline is similar i would like to know what type it is though
to bear creeks question about material type i dont know enough about the various lithics to say it is black and not really very glossy it was found in middle tn i dont think it has been ground on the base so i guess its not a dalton
I keep coming back to this thing and I lean more towards Dalton every time I look at it. This point is one that looks like it saw a lot in its useful life and one that you really wish could tell you stories.
you and me both on hearing those stories chip thanks for the input and creekhunter i looked at the examples of wheeler points i dont think so but i did have another one that looks kinda like a wheeler although it is broke so you have to imagine what it looked like also that picture on your avitar cracks me up every time that boy shore could play
