The seal is now clean, as I thought it's in good condition. There's 3 recesses on the seal handle, these are usually holes on this type of seal. The seal shows signs of being tinned, overall not bad for about 400 years old!!!.

Robert.

It's bronze Deepdiger60.

awesome! I'd love to find one of those.

Are you going to unplug the holes?

That's lovely Rob!

I haven't had a seal yet....it's the next thing I want. Apart from a gold hammered :-\

Wow, that's pretty cool Rob...How do you know it's 400 years old? Meaning, where can you research seals to determine their age?

Lennon, it's a typical 17th century type. There's tons of info on small finds, countless books, magazines etc. Iv'e had a fair few of this type over the years. My brother John's found a silver one !

There just recesses Cru not holes, there's only two on the other side. It could be a part finished seal ?. Not having three holes in it could explain why it's undamaged, as the holed types often are when found.
