Planned on putting on a bigger coil, but first I just wandered around this huge area with my sniper coil because it was already mounted and I am lazy.
Worked before...3 gold rings and a bunch of silver so far when I get crazy and actually believe I can find something good this way.
I am a glass half full kind of guy.

Too hot to cover the area right when I did switch to a bigger coil later, but at least I know there is some decent stuff out here.

The red square marks the spot.
Never discount luck in this hobby...I don't.

Some room.
This pic was taken about 1.5 years ago.
Sold a lot of the gold since then, but found a bunch more rings too.
Any ring find is better than trash.

I didn't find any rings till I was in this biz for about 4 months.
Found 2 on one hunt...both junk.
Not long after I found my first tiny gold ring in the sand at a small inland beach near a lake at a state park.
More rings started to come to me in parks and other places, then I decided to become the best jewelry hunter I could because that stuff was usually shallow, my dirt was some of the most horrible in the country and finding silver and other older coins was a challenge because nobody could get much depth.

Soon I started to think about areas to hunt that were so out of the box that nobody else thought of it before, and others that many avoid because of too much trash.
Higher percentage sites where I had at least a little bit better chance to find rings...and it seemed to pay off.
That is when rings really started to show up...I especially liked the silver and gold ones.
Now I use all those techniques and knowledge I gathered over the years to my advantage and I am still finding more than my share in mostly public parks.
In the last 2 weeks I found a couple junkers, but more importantly 3 silver and one gold ring.
Gold is rare, silver is too but there are many more of those out there to find.
It is just a matter of learning your detector well, picking good spots to hunt and maybe add in just a little luck, too.
