Hi everyone,

I have a lot of glass here that I would like to identify, could you help me with this?

They were found in different locations, in the region of Malmedy (Belgium) and on a field in Limburg (Flanders, Belgium)

So this is concretely what I would like to know,

The date, use/function and perhaps the value of the bottles, jars, shards, …

Let me know if something is not clear, or if better pictures need to be taken.

ALSO PLEASE NOTICE THAT THERE ARE 3 PARTS OF THIS THREADS

And I'm sorry that the photos are in a weird order.

-Ruben

I hope someone can help. I’ve been told that the smaller, brown bottles were generally for medicine products. This was to prevent sunlight from breaking the medicine down so quickly. I really don’t recognize anything specific from your assortment, so I’ll watch what others have to say. Thanks for posting!

These mostly date from around 1930 to 1950. You have a little bit of everything here - cleaning products, toiletry products, alcohol, ink, chemicals, medicine, etc.

There might be some older stuff around, 'just have to keep looking!

The top row are all injection bottles. Medicine for man or beasts, centre of top is rubber where the syringe goes through to extract the meds. Not worth anything that I know of.

I agree with what NJKLAGT stated as well.

The last one in the 2nd row and the 3rd row bottles are kind of cool.
Maybe once cleaned up we can better ID a value as the embossed do hold a certain value.

Still they are older glass, fillers till something older replaces them on the shelf.
Dig a little deeper, in the area.
Get a probe even, older could be lurking there.

Hi Rubenator.

Please don't take this personally but I found your three posts covering so many items to be rather overwhelming. Add in the fact that, as you say, "the photos are in a weird order" and it's not clear where multiple views of the same item are being given, there's no simple way to reference them and in most cases the pictures need to be enhanced and rotated for legibility... well, to be frank, I wasn't inclined to put in that degree of effort.

Also, there is a tendency for folks to assume that posted finds are American, unless stated to be from elsewhere. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing somewhere in continental Europe. From a cursory look, all of the marks I recognised appear to be European (including British). Where are you making these finds?

If from somewhere in Europe, folks trying to help you are likely looking in the wrong place to identify the marks. Also, the features used to assist in dating glass containers in America don't necessarily apply in Europe. We were a long way behind the US in mass-produced glass technology, where it was driven largely by the need for cheap soda bottles in very high volume.

When I have a bit more time, I will try and give you some attributions, but only after you have said where the items were found.

I changed my post, and also, thank you, I was not aware of this problem, so now my bottles may be identified better. Hopefully ;-)
