The past seven years I have been collecting antique fire bricks washing down from a 100 y/o kiln on our creek here in Western Washington State, my girlfriend and I found the source and a awesome broken gear. We built this fireplace with the bricks and the gear for the door.
The "TCARR" brick came from England in the 1800's around the Cape Horn of Africa! Other bricks include "Bonnybridge" from Scotland and the "Kilgaurd" and "Clayburn" bricks came from Abbotsford, BC...not too far from here. Mystery stamps include "RI" and "----more". Thanks for the look! image.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webpimage.webp

That is one nice lookin fireplace/grill. I really like the placement of that gear, and the bricks are sharp too.

One of a kind

Thanks BP! We built the fire pit and footing to fit the gear...the gear looks great at night lit up by the fire.

You live up there in God's Country. I was born up there and dream of going home all the time. Congrats on a beauty of a fire pit.

That is amazing. Only potential problem is figuring out how to dig it up and take it with you if you ever move. I certainly would never want to part with it. Great job.

Great looking pit using the bricks and gear.

Thank you Kingskid, Susan and Pepperj!
We do feel fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest and plan to spend many cozy nights around the fire, we found out bare feet on tumbled fire brick feels pretty darn good!

That's awesome, I'll bring the steaks and cold beer..

REALLY NICE SET UP.THAT IS WHAT SAVING HISTORY IS ALL ABOUT.

I really really like what you did there. Enjoy many warm fires by your awesome creation.

That is freakin' awesome dude.

Now break out the steaks.

Thanks for the wonderful comments, We have roots on this creek that go back to the turn of the century, my Grandfather logged old growth 80 years ago and walked the same creek...the fire pit is definitely sentimental to me.

Thats a handsome firepit. One of my deepest pleasures drawn from this mortal coil is sitting by a good fire and enjoying the evening sounds.

That is gorgeous

Very well put, I couldn't agree more. Thank you.

Found out the "RI" brick is unknown!
Also found "Livermore" and "Atlas" from California
also from England "Cowen"image.webpimage.webpimage.webp
