Picked this up for $4 looked old and silver. Not actually sure if it even is silver haha, anyways its a hairpin and looks extremely old. Has this Asian marking on the back no idea what it means! Hopefully its a maker's mark of some sort. Would love to know when this was made! Any help is welcome!

Looks like that old gilded Chinese silver with enamel, maybe Japanese?. I say gilded as many other items like it were given a very light gold wash, but the silver oxide leaches through it. From what I see, that's a good find. See if you can get a hold of member Yang Hao to decipher the mark. Yang Hao worked hard to find some info on this silver vase I found. Turned out to be from Japan...http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/446806-silver-vase-any-clues-its-origin.html

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything out about the artist! Do you know how old this might be? Thank you!
