Found this beauty today made by Otsby Barton one of my favorite antique jewelry brands because they have so much history. The ring itself looks like it's from the 1930s or so. Couple interesting things I need answers for: What the the heck kind of stone is this? It looks like ink injections inside of it? Also, I have never found any gold filled sterling before? Is it like a tarnish preventative? I thought that's what it was for because I don't see any tarnish on it and it's sterling so I'd expect some dark tarnish...? Great find! Otsby Barton stuff seems quite collectible.

The stone is moss agate! Paid $10

Nice find! Regarding the "ink injections", I believe those are dendrites. It seems that Otsby Barton made jewelry with Dendritic Agate, which according to google is a whitish-gray or colorless chalcedony with tree- or fern-like markings known as dendrites.

Are you sure it isn't lepidocrocite quartz?

I like your answer better!

Nice ring. His demise on the Titanic has only added to the popularity of this maker over the years.
