Looks like a horse bridle buckle. I find buckles like these just about every house site hunt. They are pretty common finds. As far as age goes, I would say 1880-1920 or so. I think these buckles were made for a good many years, and the basic design of them didn't change much during that time span.

Anyone with additional information can feel free to post it below. I don't have a buckle book--this is just an educated guess based on personal experience.

LOL! No. I have many other identification guides...but none on buckles :( If I'm going to spend a few bucks, I think I'd rather get a new searchcoil ;D

It seems that our collegue has found a similar buckle ;)
Just look under : Today's finds / @ delaware 37
