Last month, Citi said it is hiking the fee on its Basic Banking account from $8 to $10. Customers will be able to avoid paying the $10 fee by either maintaining a minimum balance of $1,500 or by making one direct deposit and one automatic online payment through their checking account each month, said Citi.

so if i put 1500 in like a savings account, it would be no fee? and i can try to get some halves ordered?

I ordered 6 boxes of halves from them twice. Brinks boxes that averaged 1 40% per box. They had no problem ordering for me at all. But you have a problem getting anyone to order for you so who knows!

you have to either have $1,500 in checking and savings combined, or pay 3 bills online with your checking account. that's what i was told and that's what i do and i don't pay any fees.
+ they have no problem with ordering coins. i actually have a standing order of 2 boxes / week, in 2 different branches of citibank. the only problem i had with them was sometimes they would sell my boxes to other costumers who came before me and asked for halves. but once the vault manager knows you and knows you'll pick up the coins the same day they get them, they'll save them on the side for you.

No fees with 1500 daily balance in a certain account. Make sure it is the right account. Also be aware it is 2 years b4 inactivity starts.

Yes most any large bank can order coins for you if you have an account. Some dont even know they can but some sweet talk often helps. I often go to many different banks asking for all kinds of coins weekly oo monthly and eventually ask to order a box of halves once every month or so. Ive joined almost every bank in my town.

I also am a Citi customer and have started ordering halves from them. One 40% per box doesn't sound great, but it's better than the skunking I had on my first box. Any views on Citi boxes as a good or bad source for halves? Who supplies Citi with the boxes?

the citibank around me has the worst tellers, never sells me more than 2 rolls of anything.

I dump at it when I can.

old post... but never went to citibank
