Measuring about 16 inches in height and 12 inches wide
By the made in England I’m guessing 20th century but not sure of beginning part or what

Seeing a long tradition of style and manufacturing advancement, listing them as planters.

But, it's the larger ones that may be the precursor ... listed as firewood buckets and log holders ... these have the older look such as yours ... list back to late 1800's ? ... 1860 ? ... and might be worth checking out.
