This site has history back to 1711 with Indians, French, Spanish and Civil War troops. It looks like a very long grommet with a groove at the base and what looks like some lateral grroves.

I would say a 357 or 38 wadecutter.Modern bullet but that is my guess

That's a cast bullet of the "Keith" style, semi-wadcutter. Most commonly used by handloaders. Monty
