Any idea?

I dug this item up last night at an old late 1800's house.
Any idea what it could be?
It's metal, magnetic, and about 1" tall.
The only rust is on a small center piece (pin?) in the bottom middle.

I've had guesses of an old wax type stamp, and a tarp retainer so far.
This piece looks to be very old to me.

Bingo! Or the like, a purse closure, a cover (tarp) closure, the top part twists to secure the grommet...

It's a snap for a canves TOP.You put the rings on the canves and turn it and locks the canves down.
