My girlfriend found this this evening. It is too symmetrical for me to think its natural. There is scratch marks on both sides. It appears to be slate.

Seeing there are no holes it might be a preform. Are the ends flush? Im asking is there any breaks on the ends?

Everything is rubbed smooth. The edges are rounded.
 

Interesting piece maybe somebody else will know for sure what it is.
 

well out west it could be a net gauge, but it seems a bit small for that.

It was found in a field. There is a stream and huge gravelbar beside it that produces several points a year. The locals said one field a few hundred yards away used to produce points and pottery but there is a home built there now. I knew that it was a ticket when I seen it but I could not say for sure. That is her first artifact and she is tickled!!! I'm glad she didn't pitch it!!!!

Im glad you said that. I was thinking it but didn't want to say it cause I wasn't sure. I just don't find any whole ones as of yet.
