Found this at an old cellar hole. It's fairly heavy, some pieces are broken (as you can see) and it has some gold gilt left on it. At the site I have found LCs from 1830s and 1840s but I really have no idea what this might be. There is nothing on the inside or any holes that indicate it was mounted on anything.

Is there a ring shape molded on the inside? Might be an inkwell top.

I agree with LD, I think it is part of a Victorian Inkwell. The pic of the one I have attached is similar; actually yours is somewhat earlier than the one pictured. Neat find :) BreezieVicInkwell1.webp
