Any ideas on this point? Creek find, Jackson County, Mo. Obviously beat up due to creek tumbling for so long. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Some of those angles are difficult to see how a knapper would be able to create such a result… others look Clovis like… I’m curious what others think but it’s a bit fishy to me

I 100% agree! I will take closer photos. I believe it is a preform possibly. It is obviously creek worn, dull by bumping around in a creek, water worn and I know it’s not any collector’s gem. But I’m proud to have found it!

Here are a few more photos. I believe it does help sometimes if the artifact is wet.

Water can do many things to rocks. It can also erase flaking. I’m not sure on your find it’s one of 2 things either a good faker or an erased point.

Hard to tell. One side looks worked a little but I feel its just a natural stone.

I find many, many erased points and artifacts. Buckets and buckets of erased misc tools, and I can’t imagine this being a coincidence. I do believe it is a pre-form erased point. Thank you for the input!

I find some erased

I believe ir is a toss off. Obviously worked but found to be ubsuitable and tossed away.

I agree it looks to have been worked but the material was inferior so discarded. But is sure has a clovis look to it.
I would have picked it up as well.
