Maybe a British coin? In the mid 1800's foreign coins still circulated. Braided Hair Large Cents (1839-1857) is the large penny.

I agree on coin, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 1600's -early 1700's. I will see what I can find when I get the time ---:occasion14:

Thanks I appreciate that I looked through my coin book and do t see anything however I notice the design that runs around the circumference is sort of off (not around the edge on parts which I remember seeing on old coins such as this I don’t think it’s this one but this is a example of the offset design 1A3D3127-3896-4760-93EA-601989090A99.webp

My vote is hammered coin. Thinking Spanish or possibly Dutch. Every European nation with a Fleet was over here at one time or another.

Funny u mentioned Dutch awhile back they found early Dutch shoes in the walls of the house (believed to be built mid 1800s) there are two other houses built early 1700s on the same property(turned into a farm business early 1900s I think 1905) the news paper article showed the shoes which were on display then burned in a huge fire the people who found them did research and they claimed that they put old shoes in the walls to keep evil spirits out so maybe it is a Dutch cointhanks for the help hopefully I can find out what it was very interesting coin

Because nowadays nearly everything is for sale on the internet, try searching for old Dutch, Spanish, French (etc) coins from the 1600s/1700s. Back in the pre-internet era, I saw a huge book titled something like "Coins of the World" or the "World Book of Coins." (Similar to the "Red Book" on US coin values.) It covered coins from all over the world, dating from the present back into (at least) the beginning of the Colonial Era. I'm sure there's no equivalent viewable for free on the internet, but some coin-dealer websites might have a section on Colonial Era European coins.

Interesting about it being Dutch and the clogs in the wall. Cool find!

If it's from the Netherlands, the closest coin I see is a duit, and that doesn't look quite right. Maybe something close or older than my book goes.
